What I'm doing now and what I did before
Updated 14/08/25
Now
Here's what I'm currently doing, both professionally and personally
Finishing off Book 10
It's a tie between my next book for Job Ready English , working name "Modern Day Job Hunting" and my fifth poetry book "10".
Getting into Creative Strategy
I've worked with the same US client for 3+ years and it's been such a wild ride. Working with a great client makes such a difference. Recently I've started exploring creative strategy around paid ads. Specifically Meta. I've never done the full "paid creative" life cycle, from ideation to completion and then testing. Looking forward to it, and learning every day. One of the greatest things about being a writer is there is so many things you can learn.
Trying to do a muscle up
If you've never seen one it looks like this:
I've dabbled in calisthenics over the years, it's a core part of our warm up in Krav Maga.
But recently I've rekindled my love for body weight exercises.
I recently moved office, and there is a little calisthenics park about 15 minutes walk from where I am.
Dog loves the walk and I'm there 3-5 times a week, doing a basic push/pull workout.
Muscle ups are bloody hard (for me)
So far I'm working my way up to:
- 15 struct pull ups in a row
- 10 straight bar dips in a row
Training for my Blue Belt
My Krav Maga journey has been fraught with injuries and long periods of absence due to work.
I first felt ready to take my blue belt 3 years ago, but it's just not happened. This year was probably the first time my coach agreed I was ready and then I had a freak accident.
So fingers crossed, this year will be the one.
In fact my FEKM-UK instructor profile says I already am one!
Going back at Church
I've had a somewhat convoluted relationship with my faith and going to Church since I was 25.
Last year a good friend took me to his local church, Wilmington Community Church to see a 1-man play on the persecution of a Christian abroad and it deeply moved me.
Since the start of the year I've thoroughly enjoyed attending that Church, and becoming a part of their service team.
Reconnecting with my faith has felt like finding the missing piece I have been searching for a few years now.
Getting my personal website sorted
This website is the fruition of something I have tried to do half heartedly for well over a decade.
Namely getting a place to call my digital desk.
I've used Blogger, Wix, Wordpress and Substack, but they have all proved to be a bit too much friction to stay up with.
I could be more happy with Ghost, I find it has everything and need, and nothing more.
About Me
I have been a(n)/am a(n):
- Recovering Drug Addict since 2010
- Writing since 2011
- Sober since 2012
- Professional Writer since 2013
- Entrepreneur since 2017
- Kravist since 2018
- Youtuber since 2020
- Dog Dad since 2023
I make stuff and people give me money on the IN_TUR_NET.
Which still blows my mind to this day.
This place is my digital desk. Where I store most of my writing.
In July 2025 I unified numerous blogs I've started and put down since 2011, into this one place.
This also serves as a useful place to categorise my knowledge, write it in a way that is easily digestable and share it with friends.
Nothing I write has any meaning or consequence what-so-ever.
If any of my writing offends you, get a life, go out and kiss the sun, smile at someone and realise we're all just lucky to be alive...
